This painting is called "Polka Dots and Moonbeams" after the 1950s song by the same name.
Many people mistake this for a sunset, but it is actually the full moon rising over a lakeside town. I love how the street lights glow like polka dots and the moonbeam dances on the water.
I painted this in the summer of 2007. It is oil, 9 x 12 inches.
It reminds me of childhood summers on Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine.
Peace remains supreme in this tranquil painting, Nicole!
